Bridge to the island in Offenbach harbor
The authors opted for a clear and simple bridge design. The cross-section is a prestressed concrete box girder with attached footpaths and cycle paths on both sides. The bridge initially connects the new construction area in the harbor as a construction site bridge, in order to connect the residential area in a second construction phase and further expansion
Supported by steels that tell the story of the old port, a remarkable place is being created. The thin ribbon - the concrete bridge - is supported by a composition of steels that follow a composition by cellist Wolf Frank. The bridge is light and delicate, not an opulent structure, but a self-evident 'water architecture'. A structure that lives from its lightness, elegance and tension and, not least, plays with the perspective of the Frankfurt skyline
