Oskar Residence

87 apartments on the waterfront with a view of the Frankfurt skyline

4th prize in an appraisal process

A significant entrance to the eastern part of the city is urgently needed in order to give the new banking district around the ECB an urban identity. The design occupies the bridgehead with a striking two-part building and a thirty-meter-high 'residential tower'. The design cites the Grossmarkthalle located four hundred meters away.

The west façade is a solid brick wall with a striking corner design facing the city. The building shows "flank" - self-confident and calm, without a fashionable attitude. Conical, deep reveals set the scene and direct the view towards the Main and the skyline, while the "eighty by two meter high light slits" provide thermal and acoustic protection.

The eastern part of the building is clearly set back, with striking loggias between the building sections that visually reduce the building mass of the eastern residential building.
Stepped terraces from Oskar-von-Miller-Straße down to Promenadenweg bring the building close to the water.
